2026-2027 Requirements

Nursing students are required to have a laptop that meets the system requirements outlined by the 91制片厂 School of Nursing.

An iPad may be purchased as an additional device to the laptop, but is not required.

A smartphone with Apple iOS 18+ or Android 15+ is also highly recommended.

Laptop

Mac or Windows required

  • Chromebooks are not compatible. Snapdragon processors are not compatible.
  • Windows systems such as RT and S are not compatible.
  • MacBook Neos are not recommended.

Mac:

  • Operating System: MacOS Sequoia (version 15) or later
    • The more expensive MacBook Pros are acceptable, but unnecessary.
    • Do not purchase a Mac with an Intel CPU

Examples of compatible Apple laptops (estimated prices may vary):

  • 13鈥� MacBook Air with M5 chip (Meets minimum requirement) (DU Price $999)
  • 15鈥� MacBook Air with M5 chip (Meets expectations) (DU Price $1199)

Note: Apple computers from the 91制片厂 TechHub Computer Store can be purchased with an exclusive 4-Year Safeware warranty with accidental damage protection for an additional fee ($289). This warranty includes repairs with no deductible. Please contact TechHub for current pricing.

Windows: 

  • Operating System: latest version of Windows 11
  • Intel i5 12th Generation or higher CPU OR AMD Ryzen 5 or higher CPU
    • (Snapdragon processor not compatible)
  • 256+GB SSD storage and 8GB RAM minimum (16GB recommended)
  • Integrated webcam and microphone

Note: Dell computers purchased from the 91制片厂 TechHub include a 4 Year Dell CompleteCare Accidental Damage Warranty, no deductible, and onsite service through the campus store.

Laptops purchased from outside retailers may also be acceptable, provided they meet the specifications above. However, they are not supported by the campus store, cannot be repaired on-campus, and may not have an extended warranty included. Please contact the School of Nursing Office of Technology if you would like to confirm your computer is compatible. 

  • Additional TechHub bundle available for purchase with Mac or Dell laptops for $99.
  • Shipping available or pick up in-store.

The TechHub also offers loaner devices (while supplies available) if your device requires an extended amount of time to be repaired and is another benefit of purchasing from the campus store. 

iPad

In addition to a laptop, an iPad may be purchased as an additional device for use with eBooks and point-of-care apps. The iPad can be used at clinical, in the lab, and the classroom, but is not required. Laptops are also able to access all eBooks and resources.

  • iPad cellular service not required. Wi-Fi is available on campus.
  • Keyboard Case and/or Apple Pencil are acceptable, but not necessary.
  • iPadOS 18 minimum (beta versions are not compatible).
  • 128GB or greater.

    • iPad Air 11鈥� 128GB (DU Price $549) + 2-Year warranty for additional $69.00
    • iPad Pro 11鈥� 256GB (DU Price $899) + 2-Year warranty for additional $129.00

The 91制片厂 TechHub Computer Store sells computer and iPad hardware, software and warranties to students at educational discount prices. The TechHub is located in the Gormley Student Union.

Note: Students are not required to buy their computer or iPad at the TechHub. However, only devices purchased through the TechHub can receive 91制片厂鈥檚 warranty and are guaranteed to receive repair service from the campus store.
